Happy Monday!
I hope you’re excited for the new month ahead. For those of you in the US, the coming week is going to be full of ups and downs.
I wish you all the best in your election, but remember - you control your future more than the government controls your future. Whichever way the results go, don’t get carried away. Your problems will still exist, and so will your opportunities.
Stuff I learned this week
Cryotherapy exists
No, it doesn’t involve crying. Cryotherapy is essentially cold therapy. A part of your body (or the whole body) is exposed to extremely cold temperatures. This helps with muscle recovery and also has a whole other range of benefits. Read more here.
There exists a tablet for recovered alcoholics that make their hangovers worse.
In order to dissuade recovered alcoholics from drinking again, they are usually given a tablet that significantly worsens the after-effects of alcohol consumption.
Think of it as paying heavily for sins you don’t want to commit.
Strange tactic, but it works.
A Book Recommendation
The Rational Optimist - Matt Ridley

Most of Matt Ridley’s stuff is great. This book in particular stands out. It explores the idea of human progress through trade and presents an optimistic outlook for the future.
